New features
- Guided onboarding experience – A new onboarding page now walks users through the extension UI step by step: choosing screen/tab/camera-only capture, mic and camera controls, bubble behavior, virtual background, focus mode, settings, and recordings—so everything is easy to find without guesswork.
- Feature carousel meets the tour – The rotating feature cards now include a clear path into onboarding and getting started, so discovery sits next to your best tools instead of hiding in a menu.
- Getting started that matches your build – First-run and “open guide” flows land on the right getting-started experience for the version you installed.
- Tab vs window or screen – Record a single tab and the flow stays on that tab. Record a window or full screen and you return to the tab where you started—each mode matches how you work.
- Countdown where you are looking – For tab capture, the countdown appears on the shared tab so you are not yanked elsewhere right before recording starts.
- Stop sharing from the browser – Chrome’s “Stop sharing” control ends the session like a normal stop so you are not left unsure whether anything saved.
- Cancel really means cancel – Canceled takes are discarded; you are not treated as if you had finished a full recording.
- Snappier virtual-background gallery – Video previews in the picker load faster; full quality still applies when you record.
- Clearer what you get – Store and in-product wording now call out zoom and focus mode next to screen and camera recording.
Bug fixes
- Tab recording – Fixed cases where the countdown or focus jumped to the wrong place when you only shared a browser tab.
- Library lists – Fixed recordings or previews still showing a file you had already deleted in another Showesome window.
- Previews & virtual backgrounds – Fewer failures when opening a preview or applying a background from saved data; the app falls back more gracefully when something in cache is off.
- Exports & processing – Tougher edge cases around saved clips and MP4 handling are handled more reliably behind the scenes.
Improvements
- Onboarding polish – Softer step colors, spotlight frames that track the real layout, and a tour that respects what you already changed (so it feels helpful, not bossy).
- Snappier first open – Heavy “smart camera” pieces can load when you need virtual-background–style features, so the rest of the popup can feel lighter until then.
- Smoother processing – Video processing paths were tightened so exports and background effects stay dependable as your library grows.
- Tighter everyday UI – Dropdowns, confirmations, and small layout touches across popup, preview, and recordings feel more consistent and easier to scan.
